Facility development plans for Camp Eaglecrest included a 32 x 64 hip roof building to serve as a multi-use facility. The building was originally framed by friends at Remembrance Church in 2007. In 2008 and 2009, interior work was completed, however there are still several additional interior projects that will be on the agenda for 2010. Contact us for additional information.
The building has several purposes. First is to store, repair and service our fleet of vehicles consisting of 5 Vans, 3 Busses, 5 Campers and 2 Pick-ups. Up until the completion of this building, our fleet was stored and repaired outside. Outside storage during Alaska winters typically results in damage to the vehicles. Thanks to the generosity of our friends at Remembrance, our vehicles and equipment are now under roof.
Secondly, a carpentry shop is needed to house tools and provide a work area. The primary purpose of the carpentry shop is for community development in and around the Sutton area, specifically repairing and rebuilding homes for economically-challenged families. By partnering with Sutton Baptist Church and Alaska Community Development Corporation, our goal each year is to assist at least ten families with home renovation.
Third, the upper level of this building will provide group housing. Current accomodations can hold up to 30 in a group.
Donations are needed in 2010 to assist with building shelves and a mechanics shop.
